Arrowhead Storm 11

31 Canadian Brigade's Exercise Arrowhead Storm 11 was held from 21 to 26 August 2011 in the training range at CFB Petawawa. Over 600 soldiers had the opportunity to further develop the skills learned during their summer of training. I had the honour of being the General Safety, and Radiation Safety for the exercise. This got me to a lot places that civilians normally do not go, and hence close to a thousand pictures of things we do not always see. All pictures are now up, duplicates will be deleted and adjustments made as I journal my way through this adventure.

For everyone from the exercise here are a few simple orders. First, if you want a print or a gift item order it here using the buy button. The prices are set very low for these prints or gifts and the prints are from a professional lab in Atlanta Ga. Downloads are not allowed from this site. If you would like to download a picture for other uses please contact the 31 CBG Adj, Capt Skomorowski or check the 31CBG Intranet website.

All pictures are copywrite. Production outside of agreements are not allowed. 31CBG has exclusive use of these photographs for use in their websites and newsletters.

  • FOB the first day. Actually this is the second day. The lead group arrived on Sunday and nothing arrived. End of day one and one day behind. I arrived Monday night expecting to inspect a shell of a camp, instead this is what I was greeted by on Tuesday morning. 2 Svc Bn did come through in the end!!!

Nice work by WO Chuck Graham and his crew of GDs to get this FOB operational for the lead element on Thursday morning. I felt their pain as I went out with them in the morning and left with them at night - Usual hours were 0530 to 1715 then in for dinner and write reports.

  • Southeast corner of the camp and the tower. Got some great shots here. This is also the entrance for the bears. Saw 21 in total but no pics, they either took off too quick or we had to rush to keep away from them.

Notice the slope of the wall - this will become important in a little over a week from now!!

As the drivers said they had orders to drop the one truck and head back. We told them over and over that there were a lot of trucks to unload. Unfortunately they had their order, they wanted to stay but had to obey. The last pallet is about to be unloaded and they will leave us forever when two more show up with full loads. We did not even have to ask, they unloaded both of these trucks as well. Whew...
